在新GRE作文中的另一个普遍问题是写作速度太慢，这显然是因为在考试前所作的准备不够充分。GRE考试的写作除了开头段和结尾段，中间一般应该写三段。但是考生在规定时间内往往只能写两段，而且字数也不够，只能写400字左右。GRE写作虽然没有字数要求，但是一篇较好的、成熟的，能够充分展示自己观点的GRE作文，一般应在600字左右，或者是600字以上。由此可见，一篇400字左右的文章在内容上是不够充实的。
逻辑论证缺乏说服力没有可读性
