until可以用作介词和连词，可以翻译为到…为止、在…以前等等。
用法
1、 until用在肯定句，谓语动词通常是延续性动词。
2、用在否定句，谓语动词通常是瞬间性动词。
3、连词until引导的从句中谓语动词的时态。
4、主句的谓语动词为一般现在时或一般将来时时。 until从句中的谓语动词为现在完成时，用来强调从句谓语动词表示的动作，发生在主句谓语动词表示的动作之前。
5、主句中的谓语动词为一般过去时时，从句中的谓语动词为过去完成时，用来强调从句谓语动词的动作，发生在主句谓语动词表示的动作之前。
until 与till 的区别
(1)在句首时多用until 。例如：
Until then I had known nothing about it.
(2)在from … till … 这一词组里，用till比用until普通，但也可用until。例如：
I worked from morning till late at night.
There was a beautiful Mozart concert on the radio from six o′clock until a quarter past seven.
(3)在“good—bye till …”及“up till…”中，till不能用until 替代。例如：
Yes, we can help one another. Good–bye till then.
I’ve lived in the country all my life up till now.
