BEIJing: A coal mine blaze killed 24 workers and left 52 injured innorthwest Chinaon Wednesday, government sources said. The accident took place in a state-ownedFuxin Coal Corporation in Liaoningprovince.
北京：据政府消息，中国西北部一煤矿周三发生煤尘燃烧事故致24名矿工死亡，52人受伤。该煤矿属于辽宁省国有阜新矿业有限责任公司。The government did not release the reasons behind the fire but it highlightedlax safety standards in China'scoal mining sector which is plagued with regular occurrences of accidents anddeaths.

A total of 1,049 people were killed or declared missing in 589 mining-relatedaccidents in China,according to official statistics. But this number marked a 24 per centreduction accidents and fatalities compared to 2012.
